Any adult wishing to join the Ku-ring-gai
Dojo, must first complete the Aikido Beginners Course (we have
separate classes for children).
|
|
|
| |
A martial art, by its very nature, contains techniques
designed to harm and injure. So the aim of the Beginners Course
is to teach you fundamental survival skills so that you can engage
in safe Aikido practice.
Each Wednesday night from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm , a
special class is conducted for new students. Over 6 lessons,
you will learn the principles of Aikido and the basics of collaborative
self defence, including:
- how to stand to avoid attack
- how to use distance and movement to protect yourself from harm
- how to fall without injuring yourself
- how to “centre” to gain stability
- how to perform various hold and control techniques

Download the application/indemnity form, fill it
in and bring it along with your payment, to your first class.
The course fee is $60 (inc. GST) for
all 6 lessons.
It is better if you can complete the course over
a 6 week period, one class each week, that way the lessons from
the previous week are still fresh in your mind. But as people
today have busy schedules, participants can join in for any 6 lessons
on those Wednesday nights they are able to attend.

To start you do not need any specialist clothing

(such as a track suit). Long easy fitting pants (not jeans) are
recommended. No shoes are required, as all practice will be conducted
on special mats.
The Club can supply you with appropriate, good quality
training equipment at a reasonable price. See the Equipment schedule.

At the conclusion of the course, you will be welcome
to join our regular class to further develop through more advanced
