BRAIDWOOD TAKEMUSU AIKI DOJO

Braidwood Dojo is a branch of the Ku-ring-gai Dojo, Sydney and offers training in the Aikido of the Founder, under the supervision of Derek Minus Sensei, 5th Dan.

Braidwood is 3 hour drive south of Sydney, or one hour from Canberra, Goulburn and Bateman’s Bay. The historic town of Braidwood is a perfect home for a dojo preserving the traditions of the Iwama farm dojo and the martial art of The Founder of Aikido.

AIKIDO CLASSES

Training in Aikido is conducted at the Braidwood Dojo training hall at:

Anglican Hall, Wilson St (east), next to the pre-school, each:

o Tuesday 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm: Empty hand at Anglican Hall                                                                        
o Thursday 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm: Weapons at Braidwood Townstay

 
 

FEES

Monthly training fees to attend all training classes.

o Adults (over 18) fees are $66 per month (including GST).
o Student (and concession) fees are $33 per month (including GST).
o Casual attendees pay $10 per session.

The Aikido Beginners Course is usually held four times a year, depending on enrolments:

o Aikido Beginners Course fee is $99 (including GST).

All students pay an annual Association registration of $30 each year.

Registration and Indemnity forms must be filled out prior to commencing training.

THE INSTRUCTOR

Matthew Hulse is the instructor at the Braidwood Dojo, established in the spring 2004.

Ranked Nidan (2nd dan) by the Aiki-Kai International, he has been training in Aikido for over 10 years and taught the beginner’s class at the Sheldon Forest Dojo for 4 years.

He has travelled to Japan with his instructor Derek Minus 5th dan and his instructor Saburo Takayasu 6th dan Shihan, to train with Saito Sensei 9th dan Shihan, in the Iwama Dojo. He has also travelled to train with other accomplished Aikido instructors both in Australia and internationally.

Professionally he is the owner and baker for DOJO BREAD and an accomplished business consultant competent in food trades and national franchise brands. He attributes his success in growing sales and operational efficiency with the application of Aikido to his work.

He teaches what he learnt from his instructor, following the curriculum of the Takemusu Aikido Association and his personal interests are maintaining effective technique and how Aikido principles and techniques apply in daily life.
