The course is for women who are seeking a safe, effective and positive way of protecting themselves.

This information is for the course that was held on Saturday December 10th, 2011 – it will be held again in 2012.

They say that knowledge is power. For a woman to be able to effectively control a larger and more powerful assailant she needs a level of martial arts skill that is only acquired after years of practice. However, this course provides women with a unique and powerful alternative.
Using the techniques and principles of the Japanese martial art of Aikido (The Way of Harmony), the Women’s Warrior Weapon Course teaches the use a small stick or similar implement (torch, fan etc) as a leverage and control mechanism.  The stick is light and small enough to fit into a purse or small handbags and can be used safely to even the power equation.
This course is a “warrior” programme for women and teaches situational awareness, centeredness and harmonious movement. Ways of dealing with violent conflict that does not aim to injure others but only to control aggressive and unwanted behaviour. Women will learn to safely and powerfully engage and harmoniously apply techniques that utilise the leverage effect of a small stick applied to the body.
The course is taught by trained instructors who are black belt rated and nationally accredited under the Federal Government’s National Coaching Accreditation Scheme. All classes are taught at the Ku-ring-gai Town Hall on the Pacific Highway at Pymble.
